ACUPUNCTURE

Practiced in China for over 5000 years and vastly becoming the most accepted form of alternative medicine in the West. Based on a series of channels in the body which are referred to as ‘Meridians’, each have points which run along it which can be stimulated by small needles to increase the flow of energy (Qi or Chi) within the body.

The purpose of this stimulation is to influence physiological, emotional and psychological functions in the mind and body. (Chinese medicine has always acknowledged that the mind and body are inter-related).

The benefits of acupuncture are extraordinary and can assist with pain and stress relief, hormonal balancing, headaches, gynaecological and dietary complaints to name but a few.

REIKI

Pronounced ‘Ray-Key’, Rei meaning Higher Power and Ki meaning life force energy.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to feel alive. You are fully clothed for the treatment and it should feel like a comforting warming glow. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

IM is a safe, accessible, and convenient therapeutic treatment. It can provide instant relief from tension and stress symptoms and induce a state of calm, peace and tranquillity and also promote high levels of alertness and concentration.

This treatment is performed with the client in a seated position, usually through light clothing and without the use of oils.

The benefits of IM are too large to list but can include immediate pain relief, improved sleep, better concentration, relaxation and relief from stress, anxiety and tension.

HOLISTIC MASSAGE

You’ll find elements of this treatment rooted in sports massage, aromatherapy and deep tissue massages. This can be either invigorating or relaxing depending on what you need. We use a combination of stroking, rubbing, kneading and pushing movements whilst oil is applied to bare skin allowing free movement over the body. Pressure can be as soft or as hard as is your preference but you’ll enjoy a deep sense of relaxation or rejuvenation at the end of this treatment.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

deep tissue massage
If the hustle and bustle of daily life has built up deep rooted tension in your back and shoulders, you may want to opt for the mother of all massages, deep tissue massage. Brilliant for getting to the root of reoccurring tightness and aches and pains. This massage is all about results. Pressure is applied to your muscles and various trigger points on the body using thumbs, knuckles and elbows which causes your brain to send a message to these areas to heal itself. Although it may feel quite full on at first, once you get accustomed to the strong pressure this massage calls for, you will quickly feel relieved of any tightness or soreness as well as enjoying a healthy boost of feel good endorphins. This treatment is really effective for chronic conditions such as neck, back and shoulder pain.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

This treatment is relatively new to the UK but growing ever popular amongst the complimentary therapy fraternity.
MFR is a safe and very effective hands on technique that involves applying gentle and sustained pressure onto particular connective tissue to eliminate pain and restore motion. The slow technique allows fascia to stretch and release under the skin thus releasing stagnation, pain and restriction within that area. This therapy is applied directly to the skin without the use of oils, lotions or contraptions, just lots of stretching. A marvellous therapy for any muscular skeletal issues or chronic conditions.

SPORTS MASSAGE THERAPY

You don’t need to be training for a marathon to benefit from this treatment, perhaps you do a lot of walking or just need your posture assessed. I will assess your gait, how you carry yourself, what injuries you may have had and then work out a sports massage which will best suit your requirements.

LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), also known as Laser therapy or ‘Cold Laser’ is a technology which has been proven to be remarkably safe, painless and effective in treating both acute injuries and chronic pain of various kinds. It works via the application of red and near infra-red light pulses and is applied directly to the skin using the laser head. The light targets the cells and stimulates the Adenosine Triphosphates (ATP or energy and metabolism accelerators) and protein production thus causing the cell to rapidly heal from within which in turn accelerates tissue repair and subsequently reduces inflammation and pain. There is no heat and no burning sensation with a cold laser.

LLLT has been particularly helpful in stubborn, persistent, and difficult-to-treat conditions, including chronic back pain and neck pain, arthritis, plantar fasciitis and other joint and muscle pains.

The laser offers an improved level of safe, non-invasive, drug free pain relief and accelerated healing of injuries. It is a highly effective treatment for acute soft tissue injuries, chronic pain syndromes and slow injuries.

LLLT can also used as an alternative medium in the practice of acupuncture where it provides an effective general needle-free alternative with distinct energising characteristics.

Emotional Freedom technique (EFT)

Emotional Freedom Technique incorporates theories from holistic therapies such as acupressure, energetic medicine and neuro-linguistic programming.

Many eastern medicine models are founded on the belief that there are channels of energy within the body. It is thought that when these channels (known as meridians) become blocked, energy becomes unbalanced. When this happens, it is thought to lead to physical and emotional symptoms.

Tapping on these meridians can help reduce or eliminate physical and psychological blocks such as stress, physical pain and anxiety.
